Sticker Three: 'Protect Our Islands #ClimateActionNow' sticker.
Artist Description (by Lucas Schober): This artwork was created in line with the Our Islands Our Home Campaign, to share a message which is vital to the preservation and continuation of Zenadth Kes culture, a call that we as Torres Strait Islanders are putting out to (the world)/(all).
As sea levels rise and our once synchronised cycle of weather patterns and seasonal customs become more and more unstable due to the ongoing and direct effects of climate change, we demand that action is taken now before our (cultures are)/(culture is) lost forever.
Out from the bu shell and weaving throughout the palm trees and hibiscus flows the essence of our call to action. The intricate details tell our stories which we share to all other nations, a message which we hope will not only be heard but acted upon. The call of this shell rallies all to come together to meet, listen and feel – to Protect our Islands.Arist: Lucas Schober, Musu Arts
