Kiri Tawhai Art Piece - Sand Dunes and Sunsets (92cm by 92cm)
I grew up spending most weekends on the islands in the Dampier Archipelego, Yaburrara Country. When I think of a place on Country that heals me from my soul, it is warm sand and warm evenings. It is burying my legs in hot sand and watching the brightest most beautiful sunsets.
The beach and ocean have specific properties that help the human body feel relaxed and happier from saltwater to sea air which help energise, relax, and renew the body and mind. Sunsets can represent a fresh start, optimism, and can symbolise endings, closure, the passage of time, and the completion of a journey. It is also the breath before the night sky opens up to us connecting us to djindang (stars) At heart I am a saltwater girl and this is my ode to all things Coastal.
